GoPro Hero 9/10/11/12/13 Magnifying Viewfinder - Helps with focus +
****NEW - Carbon Black color, is made out a more expensive carbon fiber / plastic material that has shown to be stronger and is much closer to a matte finish than the green version.****
Using a GoPro to record night vision is the best overall method we have found thus far, although it is still not perfect this is a move to help make it better.
This product helps to solve the two largest issues we have found:
Focus:
Trying to keep a PVS-14 properly focused can be challenging even with direct view, this allows for the screen to appear bigger and thus makes the image a bit easier to keep in focus.
Situational Awareness:
Trying to hold a GoPro NV setup far enough away so you can see the screen clearly and still see the area around you, which is typically dark, present a real problem. If you are trying to move as well, this can become more challenging and the risk of tripping / falling is much higher. This allows you to see the screen from one eye while allowing the other eye to stay adjusted to your current lighting conditions. Similar to having a NOD (PVS-14) monocular over one eye allows for the opposite eye to stay adjusted to the night and making transitioning between lighting conditions easier.
This is a custom fit viewfinder made to work specifically with the GoPro Hero 9, Hero 10, Hero 11, Hero 12 and Hero 13. It allows for access to the power and record button and can be easily removed for access to the touch screen or the battery / memory card compartment.
It is compact and easy to store as well as relatively durable.
You can get something similar on amazing by searching DSLR Viewfinder, you will just need to jerry rig it to work, and probably use tape, etc. That is likely a cheaper option, just not as user friendly…
NOTE: This does not come with the PVS-14, GoPro, tripod, GoPro to PVS-14 adapter or anything other than the magnifier and kit to attach to the a GoPro.
